Sheep/Goat

***NEW: Sheep/goats validated during June 2023 WILL BE ELIGIBLE for 2024 Spring Major Shows. Market sheep/goats validated for the 2023 State Fair will carryover for 2024 Spring Major Shows. The validated animal MUST stay in the care of the exhibitor who validated it. If the exhibitor chooses to sell the project to a new exhibitor, the new exhibitor MUST REVALIDATE the project within the next validation period (October 2023).***

• Fall 2023 Major Show market sheep/goat, registered breeding sheep/goat, and wether/commercial dams/does MUST order and validate in June; Optional for Spring 2024 Major Show sheep/goat.
• Previously Major Show validated breeding animals (registered, wether/commercial) do NOT need to be validated again UNLESS ownership has changed.

Heifer

***NEW: All Major Show heifers will now be tagged. Previously validated heifers will NOT be required to get tagged unless they have changed ownership or breed.***

• Fall 2023 Major Show heifers MUST order and validate in June; Optional for Spring 2024 Major Show heifers.

Steer

• Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Major Show steers MUST order and validate in June. There are NO other options for Major Show steer validation.

 Order Details

• Order what is necessary, the Extension Office does not order extra. Refunds will not be given.
• Ordering DOES NOT enter a participant into any show.
• This is NOT for participation in the Galveston County Fair.

Validation Dates & Information

Heifers/Steers: June 12 at Galveston County Fairgrounds

Sheep/Goat/Swine: June 15 at Santa Fe Ag Barn
