Growing Avocados

Presented by Jerry Hurlbert, Honorary Galveston County Master Gardener, Moderator and Coordinator of Texas Rare Fruit Growers Association. Jerry has over 35 years of experience growing avocados. Jerry will cover the best varieties for the Gulf Coast, how to start plants from seeds, as well as tips on tree planting and cultivation methods for growing avocados. Discover the best methods to protect plants from cold and sun, especially for young trees.

All programs are conducted at the Galveston County AgriLife Extension Office at 4102-B Main Street (FM 519) inside Carbide Park in La Marque, and are free to the public except when noted. However, we ask that you pre-register so we can ensure there is an adequate number of handouts.
