Hay Testing

Properly conducted forage sampling and testing allows you to determine the nutritive value of the forage, and match that with the nutritional needs of your animals.

Forage testing is done through the Service Soil, Water and Forage Testing Laboratory in College Station and involves four steps:

1. Download the Plant/Forage Sample Information Form or visit the Extension Office to get a paper copy
2. Collect a sample by following instructions on the form
3. Send completed form, payment, and sample(s) to the lab per instructions on the form
4. Once you have results, adjust your rations accordingly to ensure you are meeting the nutritional needs of your animals.
